Currently, we are seeking a Junior Valve Technician to join us at our Edmonton location and contribute to and share in our success.
**SUMMARY**
The Junior Valve Technician will work under a Senior Valve Technician's supervision and is responsible for disassembling, inspecting, cleaning and re-assembling valves safely and efficiently. The Junior Valve Technician is required to assist the Senior Valve Technician in performing the specific tasks required to modify valves and their internals, such as seals, seats, trim, and other mechanical components.

**TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE YOU MUST HAVE**
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Class 5 Drivers license, with a clean driving record, is required.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to read and interpret specifications, and drawings.
- Special consideration is given to individuals with knowledge and experience with various types of shut-off valves such as trunnion mounted & floating ball, gate, globe and check valves, and their components and operation.
- Experience in shipping, receiving and/or document control is considered an asset.
- Have a good understanding of relevant valve testing specifications and procedures such as API 6D & 598, CSA Z245.15, ASME B16.34.
- Able to read and interpret quality plans, inspection sheets and work procedures.
- Basic level computer and MS Office skills.
- Journeyman and/or any previous or available relevant training certificates are an asset.
- Overhead crane and Forklift Training is required.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
**TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Use of overhead cranes, drill presses, and other shop machinery and tools.
- Perform basic installation of instrumentation fittings.
- Operate pressure testing equipment to perform hydrostatic pressure tests in valves and fittings.
- Work in a production-paced environment.
- Complete documentation is required.
- Assist in the process of receiving and dispatching all material into and out of the shop.
- Maintain tools and equipment, keep shop area clean and in good order.
- Operate computer for data entry, accessing and printing work orders.
- Help maintain a positive work environment with co-workers.
- Keep track of workload and ongoing work orders.
- Be a part of a Safety-First Culture, keep the shop area clean, and eliminate potential hazards.
- Perform other duties as required.
**WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Full-time, hourly position.
- Standard working hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
- Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Physical presence on-site is required for this position.
- Industrial environment, this position may be exposed to elements such as noise, dust, odours, fumes, and oils. use of personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required per the company's safety policies.
- Standing for extended periods of time, walking, and manipulating power and hand tools.
- Lifting or moving objects up to 80 lbs.
**Salary**: From $21.00 per hour
