We are looking for a **QA/QC Technician** in #106- 8255 North Fraser Way, Burnaby, B.C. V3N OB9 CAN. Your mission will be to:

- Assist with the development, establishment and m of all quality and safety-related documents (Manuals, Procedures, Work Instructions, Charts, Guidelines).
- Assist with the preparation of internal quality audit programs and conduct the internal audits as per approved schedules in accordance with pertinent quality documents and prepare all the corresponding documents and reports.
- Assist with monitoring the quality activities and implement the agreed corrective action and evaluate its effectiveness.
- Assist with the implementation of internal quality control programs, evaluation of the results and in the establishment of the internal repeatability and reproducibility of standard methods.
- Assist with carrying out thorough investigations of quality failures, complaints and make recommendations for correction and improvement as necessary.
- Assist with managing the internal and external calibration program and review records. Verify internal calibrations are carried out as per the requirements of the protocol.
- Participate in internal and external calibration and temperature profile program ( syringes, thermometers, coolers, freezers, incubators, etc.)
- Assist in establishing control limits for all the tests and determine the uncertainty of measurement where applicable.
- Participate in Client and Certification Body audits and maintain the approval status.
- Assist with conducting in-house training sessions on total quality management and related issues.
- Assist with closing out of any non-conformances and conduct follow-up audits.
- Maintain reference standard inventory in LIMS.
- QA review of all outgoing reports before release to the client.
- Maintain knowledge of LIMS that is required to complete job responsibilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the QA Manager.

**YOUR PROFILE**

The incumbent must have a general knowledge of microbiology and chemistry, possibly obtained from a related degree or job experience, to analyze and interpret quality control data accurately. A basic knowledge of food science is necessary to analyze the microbiological or chemical content of food samples. A broad knowledge of laboratory procedures and policies is necessary to develop and maintain appropriate quality control systems and employee training programs. A general knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System is required to ensure the accuracy of client data. A general knowledge of personal computer software and basic data entry skills is needed to generate special reports and calculate quality control results. Planning skills are needed to ensure that analysis tasks are completed in a timely manner. Oral and written communication skills are required to write special reports and work with laboratory personnel on quality issues.

The incumbent frequently makes decisions regarding the accuracy and validity of testing results and the proper means to investigate problems. Recommendations are made to laboratory management regarding changes to procedures or quality control systems. Unique or unusual problems can require the input of laboratory management in order to determine the optimal solution. Standard Operating Procedures and federal guidelines establish standards from which solutions can be implemented. Factual data is used to make recommendations that will affect the efficiency of the work unit. Mistakes are identified and corrected from the recommendation to the manager/supervisor. The decisions of the incumbent will impact the client, the laboratory and the testing procedure.

The incumbent gets direction from the QA Manager. The incumbent works toward general goals and objectives established by laboratory management. The method of attaining the goals is determined by the incumbent in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. The assigned tasks must be completed within an established time frame to avoid delay in preparing for audits.
