**About Us**:
Environmental Sciences Western is a Faculty of Science field station located approximately 14 km north of the main Western campus. It is used for inter and multidisciplinary research by faculty in the Departments of Biology, Physics and Astronomy and Geology, along with researchers from the Faculty of Engineering and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
**Responsibilities**:
The incumbent will be responsible for providing support to faculty or staff, and for effectively carrying out a variety of tasks in accordance with policies, procedures, and instructions received from their supervisor. The incumbent will take guidance from their supervisor, and work productively and courteously with their work team and other members of the Western community.
**Responsibilities**:
The Field Technician will work as a member of a team and will effectively carry out a variety of tasks including:
- aid with planting trees, pruning, weeding and mulching
- preparing, measuring, planting, maintaining and data collection of all field test plots
- help with maintenance of the grounds using mowers, safely operating tractors, using hand powered trimmers, pruners, sprayers and other equipment
- arrange own transportation to and from the Field Station
**All tasks performed will be safely instructed and guided by a supervisor**
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Currently attending school and must be a fulltime student returning to studies in the fall
- Agricultural, Horticultural or Farming background is preferred
**Experience**:
- Previous Agricultural, Horticultural or Farming work experience
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- ability to work outdoors through a range of weather conditions and walk for long periods of time
- ability to work independently and in a team environment
- ability to maintain a positive and outgoing attitude
- ability to follow processes and practices with high attention to detail
- reliable and dependable with the ability to consistently work assigned schedule
- possess and maintain a valid Ontario G2 Class Driver’s License
- interest or experience in agriculture, horticulture, and farming maintenance
