**About Us**:
Animal Care within the Department of Animal Care and Veterinary Services (ACVS) provides husbandry support to animal-based research at Western.
**Responsibilities**:
The Animal Care Full-Time Western Student II is responsible for after-hours, holiday, weekend, and vacation coverage for designated animal husbandry services, housekeeping duties and maintenance tasks, including associated documentation, record keeping and reporting. Incumbents must be able to work with all current species within the ACVS managed facilities at various containment levels. Responsibilities assigned will be performed following all standard operating procedures (SOPs); in accordance with prescribed ergonomic methods and practices; and in compliance with all regulatory requirements, university policies and Animal Use Protocols (AUPs).
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Must be a full-time student at Western (enrolled in minimum 3.5 courses), and expect to
retain full-time student status for the duration of this appointment
- Enrollment in science or other research-based programs would be considered an asset
**Experience**:
- Previous work experience in a similar role or within ACVS

before 7:00 a.m. and finishing after 4:30 p.m. on weekends.
