In collaboration with the rest of the Human Resources (HR) team, the HR coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all HR related matters including but not limited to general HR administration, internal and external recruitment, occupational health and safety, benefits and HRIS administration.

**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**:
General Responsibilities
- Responds to general Human Resources related inquiries from department supervisors, managers, business partners, staff and union
- Assists HR Business Partners and HR Director with various projects which include maintenance and improvement of HR processes and programs and managing policies and procedures
- Assists in the recruitment, selection, on-boarding and off-boarding processes
- Conducts new employee orientation
- Manages the Employee Engagement and Value Recognition programs
- Ensures employee files and records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures
- Assists in the investigation process and disciplinary process

Employee Relations
- Manages all employee leaves and changes in accordance with Collective Agreement and Employment Standards Act
- Liaises with employees, supervisors, and managers to ensure consistency and accuracy in management and documentation of leaves and changes
- Provides employment verification and references
- Manages driver approval list
- Manages work permits
- Creates new employee identification cards and oversees system for managing existing cards or replacement cards

Health and Safety
- Manages all health and safety and WSIB claims for assigned caseload
- Maintains accurate records regarding all health and safety incidents
- Assists in all modified duties arrangements, including WSIB and non-work related illness
- Assists with the creation, distribution, and analysis of annual Risk Assessment surveys

Other
- Completes miscellaneous research, reports, and memos as requested
- Assists with HR related questions and problems courteously and promptly
- Respond to internal and external Human Resources inquiries from clients, department managers, business partners, and other parties.
- Manage Leave of Absences (including STD, LTD, Parental Leaves etc.)
- Assist HR Business Partners and HR Director with various projects which including maintenance and improvement of HR processes and programs
- Other HR duties as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- University degree in a related business discipline combined with the HR Management Diploma/Certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2-3 years’ experience in an HR role
- CHRP preferred
- Knowledge of current employment legislations, understanding of Collective Agreements and best HR practices
- Superior organization and client orientation skills
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Ability to build and manage relationships with varying and competing stakeholders
- Excellent time management skills
- Experience in a unionized environment preferred
- Understanding of non-profit sector preferred
