Position Summary:
Reporting to the Children’s Programming and Internal Events Manager, the incumbent will assist with ensuring the smooth functioning of the day-to-day operations, internal events including Spring and Summer children’s camps and the supervision of approximately 100 AMUSE staff (camp instructors & leaders, event staffers & leaders).

Primary Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with the children’s programming manager in the planning, supervision, scheduling and delivery of the children’s programs.
- Assist the Manager with the operations of all children’s programming including the day-to-day operations of the camps, birthday parties, pedagogical day programs and instructional courses.
- Serve as the principal on-site lead for all youth related activities.
- Adhere to the protocols outlined by the Quebec Camp Association.
- Primary contact for parent inquiries relating to children’s programs.
- Oversee logistics for all in-school activations.
- Serve as the primary on-site supervisor for most varsity events (oversees tickets, concessions, promotions and AMUSE event staff).
- Assist with the management of ticket and concessions operations. This includes training of casual AMUSE staff, event logistics, financial reports, ordering supplies and preparation work.
- Verify and prepare payroll documents for approval,or serve as a delegate in the manager’s absence.
- Recruit, hire, schedule, and train AMUSE employees. Assist in the supervision of AMUSE employees during evening and weekend events.
- Assist with the planning and organization of all internal events.
- Provide assistance as required for all major external events. ex: Homecoming, department golf tournament, etc.
- In collaboration with the Communications unit, organize promotional activities to help improve the overall fan experience at varsity events.
- Manage Marty the Mascot to ensure a successful fan experience.
- Follow University protocols, liaise with government agencies to secure liquor licenses and restaurant permits for Internal Events.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
- Undergraduate degree preferred. Major in Education, recreation administration, sport management, leisure studies, physical education, kinesiology, or comparable degree.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, customer service, team building, and decision-making skills.
- Experience managing employees in a unionized environment.
- Experience developing and leading educational sessions.
- Ability to work with budgets.
- Knowledge and a strong background in event management
- Experience working within a recreation environment.
- Possess a current CPR, AED, and First Aid Instructor certification, or ability to obtain one.
- McGill University is an English language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
- Hours of work Tuesday to Saturday 11:00am to 7:00pm.
