**About Our Opportunity**:
This unique role will work under direction of the Manager, Climate Plan and Strategic Action (CPSA), and will also collaborate closely with the Adaptation, Coordination, and Training team (ACT-NS).The CPSA team works to create the conditions to enable government and non-government partners/stakeholders to advance the actions within the climate change plan and support progress towards the goals within the Environmental Goals and Climate Change Reduction Act (EGCCRA) through knowledge mobilization, strategic evaluation and coordination, and direct program implementation. The ACT-NS team works to strengthen the ability of the provincial government and external sectors to adapt to Nova Scotia's changing climate by coordinating resources, funding, and training initiatives for the development and implementation of effective adaptation strategies.

In this role, you will work within a diverse team of professionals to support priority strategic initiatives across the two teams. While you will have the opportunity to contribute to many projects as capacity and need allows, your primary project focus will be coordinating the development of a community session (or set/series of sessions) focused on creating a safe space for learning, sharing, exploring emotions, and building community resilience after being affected by a natural or climate-related event (e.g. wildfire, flood).

**Primary Accountabilities**:
In this position, you will be under the general supervision of the Funding Navigator (CPSA). Your primary accountabilities will include:
- Supporting project teams on policy/program development on climate change strategic priority files. In addition to the primary project listed above, other project examples you might contribute to include a jurisdictional scan of department-specific adaptation actions or supporting the coordination of a new community of practice for adaptation strategies within the provincial government.
- Conducting detailed research for assigned projects (for example desktop research, phone outreach, informational interviews) and synthesizing learnings to support understanding of how results can be applied to the specific context.
- Participating in joint work planning meetings with the Funding Navigator and Climate Adaptation Coordinator(s) to gain skills in cross-team collaboration as well as project planning and prioritization.
- Working with project teams to identify and work with key contacts, partners, and participants for the purpose of the project(s).
- Contributing to program design components such as invitations, agendas, briefing materials, workshop & session content, facilitator guides, post-participation surveys, summary reports, etc.
- Communicating project milestones to various internal and external stakeholders and interested parties, as appropriate.
- Preparing presentations, reports, and other materials for senior leadership.

This position may perform other related duties as assigned.**Qualifications and Experience**:
To be eligible for this position, you must currently be enrolled full-time in a related postsecondary program and returning to school in Fall 2024. Related programs might include Social or Environmental Sciences/Studies, Public Administration, Climate Change, Planning, Economics, Business, or another relevant post-secondary concentration. Enrollment in a graduate-level program (e.g. Master’s) is considered an asset. Knowledge of provincial and federal climate change policies, programs and plans is also considered an asset.- In addition to the above, the below will be key for success within the position:
- Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to share ideas with colleagues.
- Possess organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong research and critical thinking abilities.
- Proficient in using Microsoft office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams.
