**Status**: Temporary, Full Time (up to 6 months)

**Position Description**:
**Accountabilities**:

- Accounting administration including monthly processes and reconciliation and analysis of various accounts, using the applicable software and programs
- Process daily electronic payment uploads and EFT bank payments related with various software systems
- Receive, review and process adjustments for the property taxes and water accounts
- Detect, investigate and correct payment errors and assist with refund requests for funds collected
- Administer collection processes, including notification to property owners, in accordance with legislation and transferring arrears for non-payment to the property roll
- Provide front line customer support to inquiries regarding property taxes and water utilities, account balances and payments, city utility rates, adjustments and billing concerns, and penalty charges
- Provide assistance with reconciling and preparing deposits, reviewing daily deposits, support and research for establishing user fees and charges, and general customer service to customers
- Prepare manual and file uploads for journal entries
- Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers and community partners; provide technical advice and information as required
- Other duties as assigned

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Two (2) year post-secondary diploma in Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent education and experience
- Two (2) years’ related experience preferably in a municipal taxation environment or public utility; previous cash handling experience preferred
- Successful completion of the Municipal Tax Administration Program preferred or willingness to complete
- Previous experience and proficiency with financial software and databases, preferably PeopleSoft CLASS, Vailtech Software, including experience creating ad-hoc queries and reports
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to accurately verify daily payment processing
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Previous experience working with account reconciliations, monthly financial reporting and journal entries is an asset
- Experience and knowledge with property taxation and legislation and/or utility billing is an asset
- Knowledge and experience with Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
- Superior analytical, math and problem solving skills, as well as strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that allow you to interact effectively with staff, customers and community partners
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting
- Self-motivated, goal-orientated individual with demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task and handle changing priorities in a deadline driven environment
- Experience in, and a strong commitment to, delivering quality customer service utilizing excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills in order to provide information to the public and resolve any customer concerns
- A satisfactory police criminal and judicial matters check is required as a condition of hire
