**Position Summary**

Under the supervision of the Director of Life Enrichment, the Activity Aide is responsible for the organization and implementation of leisure activities based on established objectives, goals and procedures. The Activity Aide is also entitled to assist in other departments as required.

**Some Key Responsibilities**
- Assist in organizing and implement scheduled activities for all residents.
- Inform the Director of Life Enrichment and co-workers of activities, residents and problem areas
- Maintain statistics of resident’s participation in activities through Activity Pro
- Attend care plans meetings, structures restorative/activation meetings, workshops, in-services and read all pertinent publications to the related field
- Responsible for maintaining and/or increasing their skills and knowledge
- Review departmental manuals on policies and procedures and other pertinent information
- Assist in orientation and supervision of volunteers and students
- Perform as an advocate to residents and families
- Function in accordance with the Policies of the Home and the Ministry Guidelines and Regulations
- Adheres to established department policies and procedures regarding quality, assurance, safety, environment, CPR Training, infection control and WHMIS
- Develops and maintains a thorough working knowledge of the Finlandia Nursing Home Health and Safety Manual and associated Provincial Legislation and collective agreements
- Develops and maintains a thorough working knowledge of Finlandia’s Resident Safety Policies
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Life Enrichment

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology or other related field or;
- has the appropriate skills knowledge and experience (in place of the identified educational/training requirements) to fulfill the role
- An acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check verified within the past six months
- 2-step TB test within the past six months

**Physical Demands**
- Standing, sitting, portering, crouching, stooping, pushing, reaching, pulling
