Fcss Program Assistant

Position Summary

Reporting to the Family and Community Support Services Supervisor, the FCSS Program Assistant is a casual position responsible for assisting with the delivery of programs to children and youth in Yellowhead County.

Position Responsibilities

**Program Preparation-40%**
- Assist in the assessment of community needs;
- Assist in disseminating program information to the community through advertising;
- Plan activities for children’s programs and assist in the preparation of youth program activities;
- Prepare facilities and supplies for planned activities;
**Program Delivery-50%**
- Support the delivery of the preschool program for children 0-6 years of age and the after school services for 6-14 year olds in Yellowhead County;
- Provide supervision of program participants to ensure their health and safety;
Provide and/or assist in program delivery such as leading songs, games, sports, crafts, etc.;

**Program Administration and Evaluation-10%**
- Maintain a record of daily activities;
- Provide recommendations for future improvement;
- Assist in program evaluation through input from participants, parents and community members at the end of each program;
- Assist in the compilation of quarterly and final reports;
- Prepare reports to the FCSS Board as required; and
- All other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older;
- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Recreation, Education or a related field considered an asset;
- Minimum one (1) year combined experience working with children and/or youth required;
- Must hold current certification for Standard First Aid and AED, CPR Level C;
Valid Incumbent must provide a Police Information Vulnerable Sector Check;
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) Driver’s License with fewer than 6 demerits;
- Incumbent must possess Defensive Driving obtained within the last five (5) years;
- Excellent communication and exceptional organization skills; and
- Excellent computer literacy skills.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT**

Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors with potential exposure to adverse weather; and
- Hours of work are variable and dependent on program needs.

**The hourly wage is $19.45 to $21.40.**
**This is a temporary term position until approximately December 2024.**
**Position will be based in Wildwood.**
