**JOB DESCRIPTION-HOUSEPERSON**

**Report to**: Executive Housekeeper /Assistant Executive Housekeeping/ Housekeeping Supervisor

**Position Summary**:Responsible for cleaning and maintaining public areas of the hotel per HousePerson check list and responding to guest requests in the hotel’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours). Ability to walk, climb, grasp, bend; and stop; push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 75 lbs.

**This job description can be updated to include new tasks &responsibilities at any time at the discretion of the General Manager**

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to WHIMIS regulations and hotel requirements. Ensure bottles have proper labelling.
- Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and general appearance of public areas and corridors of the hotel.
- Removing dirty linens from hallway and placing down the chute.
- Sweeping and vacuuming floors, hallways, ledges, and stairwells.
- Picking up trash from parking lot, trash cans and garden areas.
- Delivery and removalof guest amenities. (e.g. Cots, Playpens)
- Unload truck shipments and cross check supplies with packing slips and move to storage area.
- Move, arrange, and clean the winter mats. Shampoo when necessary.
- Assist with spreading calcium/stone around exits when needed.
- Snow removal at all entrances. (To be checked frequently)
- Vacuum and clean guest hallways, elevators/tracks, carpet edges, stairwells, and walls.
- Clean all Landings and amenities areas. (vending, ice and storage/chute areas)
- Clean designated areas including, but not limited to, restrooms, gym area, gym equipment, pool, public and lobby areas, offices, and meeting rooms.
- Occasional assistance in cleaning the Bistro areas after heavy traffic flow.
- Perform tasks including, but not limited to, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, shampooing carpets, washing windows, cleaning/waxing floors, removing and disposing of trash and emptying ashtrays and pick up the cigarette butts.
- Keeping the staff room clean and tidy.
- Report maintenance deficiencies and items in need of repair.
- Stock and maintain supply rooms when needed based on occupancy levels.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks and special projects (for example: mattress flipping, furniture moves, etc.) when assigned.
- Deliver guest requests/amenities, assist guests, and assist in cleaning guest rooms, when needed.
- Stripping linens from beds and removal of garbage during high occupancy level or as assigned.
- Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts to storage.
- Clean hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet the company standards.
- Hallways stain removal, vacuuming, shampooing and vending machines.
- Remove scuffs from wallpaper and clean vents.
- Empty wastebaskets, empty and clean ashtrays, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
- Replenish supplies, such as drinking water, linens, supplies, and bathroom items in pool and fitness.
- Move garbage from hotel to outside garbage bins. Keep loading dock tidy and throw out skids.
- Keep storage areas well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaners, steam, and shampoo machine. Deliver and pick up dehumidifier and blowers to affected areas.
- Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary.
- Observe precautions required to protect hotel and guest property and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors.
- Deliver items to guest rooms from the front desk.
- Luggage assistance with guests and sometimes with large bus tours.
- Ensure that all health and safety standards are followed.
- Scrub the swimming pool area floors with appropriate machines and chemicals.
- Remove debris from driveways, planters and around building perimeter.
- Flexible to work any shift, which includes weekdays, weekends, and PM shifts.
- Reporting any defects or problems encountered to maintenance.
- Delivering special request items, playpens, guest laundry, parcels to guest rooms.
- Assisting Front Desk with different tasks when needed.
- Clean guest laundry room and machines.
- Assisting Laundry department with folding and delivering of laundry. (when needed)
- To assist with inventory controls and par stock levels.
- To deliver linens and terries to storage areas, staff and guests.
- To assist with inventory controls and par stock levels.
- Keeping storage areas and housemen carts tidy and clean.
- To assist new hires in orientation/training within the department.
- To maintain standard of punctuality, uniform/name tag, dress code appropriate to position and personal hygiene.
