**Nature and Scope**

Reporting to the Manager, HR and Labour Relations, the Leadership and Engagement Specialist is responsible for the formulation/implementation/evaluation of a plan that engages employees while creating an adaptive culture. This position is responsible for leading an organizational culture by implementing a program that engages and develops our people toward higher levels of unity, commitment and performance. They will work with those responsible to integrate engagement concepts into training so that supervisors become the primary conduit for increasing engagement. The Leadership and Engagement Specialist ensures precision in communication to employees regarding decisions that may affect organizational culture and employee engagement. Critical to the SA’s success, this position demands that the incumbent establish harmonious and productive relationships with the SA and college staff, student groups and the outside community.

**Job Duties**
- Organize, coordinate and facilitate employee orientation(s) for new employees on all campuses.
- Facilitate all processes and onboarding in HRIMS (Human Resource Information System)
- Ensures that conduct by all employees in the department upholds the values of Caring,

Learning, Integrity and Respect and upholds the image and reputation of both the SA and Algonquin College.
- Work with managers to develop strategies and demonstrable links between engagement and their strategic goals.
- Create a comprehensive and sustainable employee engagement strategy.
- Creation and implementation of an annual program of culture-building events that recognizes and praises the good work of our people, i.e. Christmas party and year-end SA dinner in April.
- The specialist will be responsible for developing a survey process and metrics that will enable the SA to track employee engagement at both an organizational level and a local department level.
- Post vacancies and recruitment information on the website and as assigned; post vacancies in compliance with hiring guidelines; distribute job postings as assigned.
- Manage programs and maintain human resources information and related records systems.
- Help to ensure organization-wide compliance with policies, procedures and applicable regulations.
- Assist HR Manager(s) with training program development.
- Support Human Resource Manager(s) with all transactional HR functions.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Desired Skills and Qualifications**

- Strong experience working in partnership with leaders and colleagues to drive results.
- Experience interacting with all levels of management/staff and across organizational lines.

- Excellent influencing and leadership - particularly within college organizations.
- Experience presenting to different audiences verbally, in writing and in presentation formats.
- Human Resources designation is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a group setting or independently.

**Compensation**:

- This position is part of CUPE Local 5144 - pay Level 5 ($30.90-$34.34).
- The Algonquin Students’ Association offers a comprehensive benefits package to its employees.
- Hours of work: 35-hour work week
