**GENERAL SUMMARY**

The Squamish Public Library seeks to be a forward-facing organization that is capable of rapid adjustments to changing circumstances. While this job description is intended to reflect current responsibilities, the library system, and the incumbent each recognize that future organizational and service changes will affect responsibilities. The job description accurately reflects the level of responsibility and the skills that will be required.

The Squamish Public Library retains the right to shift responsibilities amongst staff paid at the same level as each other.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITES**
- Check-in and check-out of library materials.
- Register new patrons into library database and update patron records.
- Provide information to patrons regarding charges to their accounts and library policies.
- Instruct patrons on how to use Online Catalogues and Self-Checkout machine.
- Process Take-Out requests (suggest titles and prepare items for curb-side pick-up).
- Open and close the library when required and follow all relevant opening and closing procedures.
- Assist library users with locating materials in the library catalogue, accessing the library’s digital resources, and use of both public internet computers and personal electronic devices.
- Provide information on library programs and services.
- Performs other duties as assigned which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the job.

**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**
- Excellent customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to take direction, multi-task, be flexible and work under pressure.
- Competency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with office equipment such as photocopiers and printers.
- Familiarity with digital devices and resources (such as eBooks).
- Cash handling experience.
- Knowledge of library systems, ability to suggest authors and titles, and a demonstrated enthusiasm for reading and learning preferred.

**REQUIRED TRAINING, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
- Grade 12 completion.
- Completion of a one-year library certificate program or equivalent preferred.

**OR**
- An equivalent of education, training, and experience.

**Salary**:Pay Band 3 (ranging $26.63-29.10)

Expected hours: 20 - 25 per week

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- library: 1 year (preferred)
