High School Mentorship: Program Coordinator

The YWCA High School Mentorship programs have been supporting youth achieve their goals while building life-long relationships since 1991. This program matches high school-aged youth with adult mentors who guide the youth to explore pathways towards a fulfilling career path. Our program welcomes members of the LGBTQIA2S+ and Disabled communities and primarily serves cis and trans women and people who are systemically marginalized due to their gender identity and gender expression.
**Job Summary**:
In this dynamic role, the High School Mentorship Coordinator will work closely and report to the Mentorship Manager. The Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining administrative duties for the day-to-day upkeep of the program, supporting matches through regular communication, developing program content such as newsletters and blog posts, and helping to coordinate, plan, facilitate workshops/events/presentations. The Mentorship Coordinator will be passionate about youth mentorship and demonstrate organization, efficiency, reliability and willingness to learn.

**Responsibilities include**:
- Support the Mentorship Manager to implement the High School Mentorship program and to achieve program objectives and goals.
- Support the Mentorship Manager to build relationships with partnership organizations and to support program outreach.
- Regularly communicate with the mentorship matches to provide support, to problem solve and to monitor for safety.
- Support participant intake registration including interviewing, screening and onboarding.
- Coordinate and plan events/workshops with internal and external parties.
- Facilitate mentorship workshops and presentations alongside the Mentorship Manager.
- Develop engaging, informative, and relatable content in the forms of newsletters, blog posts, discussion posts and activities.
- Support implementation of volunteer recognition and program evaluation plans.
- Assist in the planning and preparation for current and future program cycles.
- Occasional work on evenings and weekends for workshops and events, as required.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary education in social sciences (or related field) and/or minimum 1-year experience in community program coordination
- Experience in non-profit and community programs delivery or coordination is an asset
- Experience with mentorship programs as a participant or program coordinator is an asset
- Strong administrative, data entry experience
- Experience with event planning and coordination with success
- Strong group facilitation and presentation skills
- Highly organized, self-driven, proactive, and able to think critically
- Ability to work independently, efficiently and productively in a remote work setting
- Mature, reliable team player with excellent time management skills
- Outgoing, open and personable with a willingness to learn and an ability to connect both youth and adults with ease
- Strong written and oral communication skills that demonstrate diplomacy and tact
- Proficiency in Office 365, Microsoft Office (including Excel, Powerpoint, and Word) and online collaboration tools such as Google Jamboard and Canva
- Flexibility to work some evenings and occasional weekends for participant intake, program events and workshops.
- Knowledge of volunteer management or experience in youth programs an asset
- A valid clear criminal record check is required
- Successful applicants are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19; exemption requests must be supported by valid, legal documents.
