**_ The Position -_**

An opportunity currently exists for a QA/QC Manager to join our growing team. We offer a competitive salary plus overtime and benefits (after probationary period). The position is based in Nisku, Alberta and is a shop based position.

Summary of Job-Related Responsibilities:
Accountable for all Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions and activity at WF Steel and Crane. Reports directly to the Operations Manager(s) and working closely with Shop Superintendents and the Production Manager. Direct Reports include all Quality Control Inspectors, and Quality Administrators. This position is responsible for monitoring the overall Quality Program to ensure compliance with applicable code standards, local requirements and client specifications. The Quality Manager will monitor all aspects of the department and facilitate continuous improvement.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

- Certified Welder Journeyman in is preferred. Comparable skills and experience, with exceptional leadership abilities may be considered.
- CWB Welding Inspector Level 3 Certification and NACE Certification are an asset.
- Materials Engineering knowledge would be an asset.
- Mentorship and Leadership skills are required.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, cut lists, and specifications.
- Ability to read and understand job specifications.
- Advanced knowledge of Canadian structural design, welding procedures, and paint specifications.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable regulations and procedures, staying up to date with industry changes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English Language.
- Organizational skills, and the ability to maintain appropriate paperwork.
- Strategic planning skills, tracking and trending Quality issues and implementing changes for continuous improvement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and an aptitude to learn other job-related software including the Tekla suite of software.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide mentorship and guidance to QC Inspectors on training and career development and WF methods of inspection. Shadow new inspectors and provide mentorship to familiarize with WF workflow and typical practices.
- Track and trend NCR’s, QSR’s and other quality related issues.
- Evaluate all non-conformances and create corrective actions.
- Ensure the timely and accurate creation of project turnover.
- Work with Project Managers to ensure that project documents conform to client requirements.
- Fill out Daily Task reports to keep track of activities and specific duties performed.
- Enforcement, Implementation and Auditing of Drawing Punch Procedure on the shop floor, so that QC inspectors are maintaining requirements and accuracy of inspections.
- Auditing Shop books in process and as they come in from the shop floor and ensuring they are complete prior to Third Party Inspection.

Manage all internal and external audits as required.
- Tracking of CWB and other Welding Certifications, ensuring company compliance.
- Coordinate with CWB Inspectors and Welding Supervisors for welder testing and assist where required.
- QC Surveillance of inspectors in all shops to ensure compliance with WF Quality Manual and procedures.
- Random Audits of shop drawings for accuracy and drafting issues.
- Coating inspections for projects at subcontractor facilities, upon request as required.
- Site visits to do in-person assessments and recommendations for repairs when issues arise.
- Collaborate with estimating department to ensure compliance with client requirements during the bid stage.
- Evaluate and monitor the quality performance of vendors and subcontractors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding quality matters.
- Maintain company registration with applicable regulatory bodies.
