Hamilton, Canada GFL Environmental Inc. Full time

GFL Environmental is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator to support our operations in Stoney Creek, ON. This role is responsible for the processing and loading waste and waste diversion materials. Operates heavy equipment such as front end loader and maintains areas of the site, heavy equipment, and tools as required.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Operate equipment such as excavator, loader, bulldozer, compaction equipment, forklift and frontend loader.
Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks as required.
Secure special attachments to equipment as required.
Conduct daily pre-operational checks on equipment.
Perform minor repairs to equipment.
Provide safe, prompt, and efficient support to assigned projects.
Ensure that all activities are carried out with due regard to personal safety, the safety of others and in line with Company policies and procedures.
Communicate any unsafe conditions or incidents in a timely manner to Foreman.

**Knowledge, Skills and Competencies**:
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
Knowledge of operation of front-end loaders, compaction equipment, and other heavy equipment.
Knowledge of operation of excavators, front-end loaders, compaction equipment, and other heavy equipment.
Knowledge of equipment maintenance.
Valid class G drivers’ license and clean drivers abstract. AZ Preferred
Strong work ethic.
Have a professional, courteous and respectful attitude towards all customers, suppliers, and all employees.
Able to work in various working conditions (outdoor, off-site locations, etc.)

**Working Conditions**:
80% of the time will be spent outdoors in all types of atmospheric conditions
Physical Demands include walking, hiking, climbing, bending, lifting and upper body strength during well purging
Position requires the operation of company trucks/ATV’s within the Landfill and for offsite purposes
