Consider this opportunity at the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade where you will utilize your leadership skills to lead a team of professional policy staff on policy initiatives and projects that support Ontario's investment attraction agenda.

The Sector and Investment Strategy Branch plays a critical role in supporting the province's economic agenda by leading the development of strategies to support investment attraction and economic growth across Ontario's key industries. We work collaboratively with the business community, key organizations, and partner ministries to advance the province's economic interests by developing strategies and policies that strengthen Ontario's global competitiveness.

Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $88,496.00 to $128,625.00 per year in compliance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this role, you will:

- Oversee daily activities of unit staff including monitoring work, technical direction, delegating assignments, identifying training needs and developmental support
- Provide project leadership in the development of policies and strategies that support the government's investment activities
- Identify and build key working relationships to support investment intelligence throughout the Ministry
- Monitor trends and issues and make recommendations to address policy gaps
- Coordinate and lead stakeholder consultations

**How do I qualify?**:
**Policy and Program Experience**: You have:

- Demonstrated experience in policy and program development and decision-making processes to lead the development of policies
- Ability to assess policies and programs to develop performance criteria and make recommendations
- Knowledge of legislation and program relationships/jurisdictions to assess the impact of policy changes on the Ministry's priorities

**Project Management and Leadership Skills**: You have:

- Experience leading and managing the development of large-scale policy, programs and initiatives
- Experience providing leadership in policy and program development, delivery and implementation

**Communication and Interpersonal Skills**: You have:

- Consultation and negotiation skills to resolve competing policy and program-related issues, gain support, and represent the ministry on committees
- Presentation and persuasion skills to provide policy advice and to explain recommendations
- Political acuity to liaise with senior staff up to the Minister level and partnership-building skills to establish stakeholder linkages and work cooperatively on projects
- Communication skills and proficiency with standard software to prepare reports and briefings

**Investment Knowledge**:

- You have an understanding of the broad range of issues and trends impacting the domestic and international investment policy environment, Ministry's investment mandate, relevant legislation, strategic directions and key objectives to develop strategies

**Research, Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills**: You have:

- Advanced research skills to lead and coordinate inter-jurisdictional research projects/studies, trends analysis and environmental scans
- Demonstrated issues management skills to identify competing interests and develop solutions to problems and issues
- Risk management skills to develop and assess the impact of policy and program development of changes and identify emerging issues
