**Purpose**

As part of the interprofessional team in the outpatient and day treatment Eating Disorders Program, the Registered Dietitian (RD) is responsible for the delivery of nutrition therapy. The RD provides services based on standards of quality and evidence-based practice.

Responsibilities include collecting and interpreting patient health information, performing nutrition assessments, providing nutritional recommendations and; developing individualized nutrition care plans.

Provides individual and group sessions related to identifying nutritional goals such as grocery shopping, meal preparation and menu planning in partnership with patients, their families and the health care team.

The Dietitian develops, coordinates and presents relevant educational material for diverse populations; monitors the ongoing nutritional status of clients attending the clinic and maintains treatment and progress records in accordance with policies and procedures established by the HSN Regional Eating Disorders Program.

**Education and Training**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition from an accredited University.
- Must have successfully completed an accredited Dietetic Internship Program
- Member in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required

**Experience**
- Two (2) years’ experience in the area of eating disorders and clinical nutrition experience in a health care setting preferred
- Experience in community program development
- Community education experience and public speaking ability

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Demonstrated knowledge of eating disorders of all ages and psychological factors affecting eating disorder clients
- Demonstrated client-centered, individual and group counselling skills including supportive behavioral interventions applicable to eating disordered clients
- Demonstrated understanding of the psychosocial, physical, and functional problems endemic to eating disorders
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of techniques for assessing nutritional states in eating disorder clients
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of techniques of program design and delivery
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, as well as being able to work independently and prioritize workload is essential
- Basic computer skills are required

**Personal Suitability**
- Demonstrated positive work record and good attendance record
- Criminal record check satisfactory to the Hospital is required
- Ability to travel between local sites
