Position Overview:***
- Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for hydraulic and hydrologic data visualization with integrated GIS functionality for sanitary and storm projects and develop models to determine sound solutions.
- Run, analyze, calibrate, modify, and improve sanitary and storm hydraulic models and develop solutions to meet certain design criteria and prepare modelling documentation, technical memoranda, and design reports.
- Operate and evolve existing City-wide InfoWorks ICM models for both sanitary and storm infrastructure, using engineering knowledge to analyze the technical performance of both systems and ensure the accuracy of the systems’ infrastructure networks by identifying and addressing any information gaps and issues.
- Support in the design of stormwater and wastewater collection, treatment, and modeling systems under instruction from the Utilities Engineer, including review and input on related development reports.
- Assist with proposal development, planning projects and preparation of cost estimates for modelling and associated engineering works.
- Work in a team environment on various linear infrastructure projects including model build.
- Gather information and provide feedback toward project-reporting metrics to ensure up-to-date informed status of projects from initial stages through delivery and final archiving.
- Provide municipal servicing and hydrologic and hydraulic assessments for operations and maintenance, transportation, land development, etc.
- Review and analyze stormwater and wastewater management designs presented in modelling software (InfoWorks ICM, PCSWMM, XPSWMM, HEC-RAS, Visual OTTHYMO, etc.), drawings, and technical reports.
- Support GIS data analysis by providing expertise specific to storm and sanitary sewer modeling requirements, fooldplain mapping, and storm/sanitary sewer mapping.
- Provide technical expertise into the City’s hydraulic modelling manual and regularly provide input on relevant processes, procedures, and documentation to coordinate information movement between different departments.
- Assist in developing a strategic O&M planning framework to optimize the lifecycles of sanitary and stormwater infrastructure while reducing maintenance activities and costs.
- Collect, collate, and input data to support the development of the City’s Asset Management Plans for sanitary and stormwater infrastructure.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, interpret sketches, drawing, standards, and other related materials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:
- Minimum 4 year honours degree in Engineering (i.e. Civil, Environmental, Water Resources Engineering).
- Minimum 2 years related experience in water resources engineering, including hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, water balance, floodplain delineation, storm and sanitary sewer design and/or pumping station design.
- Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for integration with hydrologic and hydraulic models.
- Possess knowledge of asset management principals in municipal utilities and a thorough understanding of sustainability principles in water and wastewater management.
- Excellent data management skills and the ability to read and interpret legislation, technical journals, manuals, contracts, work orders, design drawings, by-laws, reports, and supplier information.
- Strong design, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to demonstrate engagement in projects, lead by example, and simultaneously coordinate multiple projects.
- Hands-on, practical experience creating hydrologic and hydraulic models (for example, in InfoWorks ICM, InfoSWMM, PCSWMM, XPSWMM, HEC-RAS, Visual OTTHYMO, etc.) with in-depth knowledge of principals, physical and hydraulic processes and of best practices in model development, calibration, and verification.
