Qualifications:
Essential:

- Completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) program from accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety procedures with the ability to perform tests and record data
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tests and samples within tight deadlines and conflicting demands
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
- Strong verbal communication skills

Desired:

- Experience making microbiological culture media and laboratory reagents
- Experience working in Clinical Microbiology laboratory (veterinary or human)

**Duties**:
This position is responsible for a variety of standard procedures including routine and complex media preparation; wash-up duties; decontamination and sterilization of materials; receiving, logging in and processing samples; maintaining some equipment; filing worksheets; following SOP’s; following safe practices and use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
