**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is looking for a Technician. This position will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing equipment such as dataloggers, weather stations, lysimeters, spectral reflectance sensors, UAVs, soil sensors, gas analyzers, off-grid power systems, communication networks of field instruments. The Technician will also be responsible for collecting, interpreting, and reporting results.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (Engineering, Agriculture) required.
- Five years of directly related experience required.
- Experience with power systems, networking, data loggers and environmental sensors.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Familiarity with gas analyses, battery power storage, power conversions, electronic communications, monitoring systems, computer programing, data acquisition.
- Familiarity with personal computers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Ability to aid in delivery of laboratories of various courses required.
- Ability to diagnose and repair laboratory and field instrumentation required.
- Ability to interact effectively with others in a culturally diverse workplace required.
- Valid Driver's license is required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
- Knowledge of WHMIS and hazardous materials protocols and regulations.
- Operation and maintenance of a highly technical instrument and methodologies in a laboratory setting.
- Method and protocol development for preparation and analysis of samples.
- Preparation of standard operating procedures for equipment and instrument operation and maintenance.
