**Job description**
Nikihk Indigenous Housing First is an intense home visitation and follow-up program designed to assist those experiencing chronic homelessness. We provide in-home follow-up support, with cultural and spiritual support and education.
**Responsibilities**
- Provide follow up support, assistance, and basic skill training to high risk Aboriginal men, women, youth and families in order to establish and maintain an independent and stable housing.
- Assist clients/Staff from intake to graduation w/ goal of reducing the barriers to maintain long term housing sustainability.
- Work in partnership with landlords from the public and private sector. This position is responsible to house a minimum of 2 clients/month.
- Broker client with existing community services including identification acquisition, medical attention, legal resources, and income assistance.
- Implement harm reduction strategies. Clients do not have to be clean and sober to engage in the program.
- Documenting all objective interactions with clients, whether by phone or face to face, on ETO a web-based case management software.
- Report directly to Team Leader; Attend monthly supervision with the Team Leader.
- Keeps track of km usage and submit mileage claim to Team Leader.
- Conduct regular home visits to provide supportive services to clients in their desire to maintain stable housing. Create an Independence plan with clients outlining steps required to ensure client maintains stable housing.
- Foster positive working relationships between client and housing managers.
- All staff are to be cross trained in Nikihk Housing 1st positions for the purpose of cover off as needed and requested by the Team Leader.
- Provide assistance in daily duties with all Nikihk Housing First Programs: Follow-Up Support, Outreach, Cultural and Trauma and Supported Referrals.
**Qualification Requirements**
- A./B.S.W./Human Services Degree or Diploma or equivalent
- 3 - 5 years minimum of relevant experience
- Enthusiasm for being part of the solution to end homelessness in Edmonton
- Passion for working with Indigenous individuals; excited about being a catalyst of change in people’s lives.
- Must have an understanding the impact the loss of culture identity and intergeneration residential school syndrome has had on Indigenous people.
- Effective time management and the ability to meet deadlines; Budgeting skills are an asset
- Must have own vehicle and be willing to transport clients.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and willing to obtain a drivers abstract
- Must have 2-million-dollar liability insurance coverage
- Must provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Intervention Record Check (within a 6-month period from date of completion).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
**Salary and Benefits**
- Salary plus monthly auto allowance.
- Paid sick and wellness days after 3 months’ probation (pro-rated)
- Working approximately 34.5 hours per week
Pay: $3,952.64-$4,150.27 per month
