**Contract term**: Immediately - December. Flexibility in scheduling required - weekdays & weekends, mornings & days.

**Job Summary**: The Security Guard is responsible for the loss prevention and health and safety of customers and employees within the assigned location.

Reports to: Store Manager.

**Job Duties**
- Actively participate in floor walking duties, monitoring all areas of the store.
- Monitors the entrance and exits of the store.
- Watch for and report irregularities, such as security breaches, safety hazards and emergency situations.
- Detect & apprehend shoplifters.
- Document and report all situations that arise.
- Removes non-compliant individuals from the store and issues trespass notices as required.
- Ensure Company policies and protocols are followed.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- All other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Must hold a valid security guard license issued by the Ontario Ministry of Community and Correctional Services.
- Post-secondary education in Law & Security or Police Foundations is preferred.
- 2 years of experience in a Loss Prevention or similar role is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience dealing with the public in a position which requires excellence in customer service, problem-solving and conflict-resolution.
- Ability to identify and deal with potentially volatile situations independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication is required.
- Essential Job Functions:

- Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders.
- Bend and twist the upper body, reach above and below shoulders.
- Bend and lift loads, up to 50 pounds.
- Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
- Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.).
