**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications
- Review and understand job specifications and drawings and follow through with estimating process to develop competitive bids.
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors

- Conduct site/tender if required walkthrough to cross reference drawings to avoid site interferences and identify proactive solutions.
- Handling drawings, sketches, addendums, specifications and preparing estimates on a regular basis.

- Produce material and labour take-off through estimating software (fastpipe) to develop accurate quotations.
- Effectively communicate with stakeholders to gather information, clarify specifications, wording, etc. and in meetings and presentations with clients and partners.
- Communicating decisions with clients (both internal and external).

- Coordinate with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain pricing to include within the final quotation provided to client.
- Participate in closing the bid including bid review meetings, etc.
- Participate in hand over meeting with Project management team after award.
- Assist project management team in pricing notice of contract changes and extras.
- Knowledge of FastPIPE software
- Promptly provide sub-contractors and suppliers with information once an addendum is released.
- Store all relevant information about tenders in an organized file
- Create an easy-to-read summary table showing total costs and labour hours prior to every closing (Template provided by VAN)

***REQUIREMENTS**:

- Minimum 1 year estimating experience in mechanical estimating or the mechanical construction industry.
- Mechanical Engineering degree, diploma, or related education, and/or trade experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Fastpipe or similar software is a definite asset.
- Ability to learn quickly, be flexible and adaptable.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and industrial piping systems. Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to perform accurate quantity take-offs, prepare cost estimates, and develop detailed proposals using estimating software and tools.
- Thorough understanding of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements. Awareness of new technologies and construction methods
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client interactions, proposal presentations, and negotiations. Clear communication of technical information.
- Ability to put together accurate proposals under pressure and within customers deadlines
- Current knowledge of mechanical, HVAC or plumbing, building and municipal codes and regulations.

Pay: $50,000.00-$650,000.00 per year
