Diploma in Graphic Design, Videography, Digital Communications, Digital Marketing, or Public Relations or equivalent in related field

Minimum two (2) years of demonstrated recent and exemplary experience in the communications field including: video production, videography, editing and graphic design; social media and CMS platforms; and website and intranet site maintenance

Experience working with Drupal and WordPress is an asset

A combination of education and experience may be considered

Experience working in the K-12 education or public sector is an asset

Valid British Columbia driver’s licence and transportation to be present at all District location

Position Summary

The Digital Communications Coordinator, reporting to the Manager, Strategic Communications, will work in collaboration with various staff members to support strong communications within the District and specifically the Sooke School District brand, goals and strategic plan. The Coordinator will attend and report on events through the District and work in partnership with departments and schools to promote board wide initiatives on social media accounts, websites and through content creation such as videos, graphics and photographs.

**Responsibilities**:
Oversees online promotion which includes creating social media content and monitoring online presence; responds appropriately to posts, comments and inquires and escalates to Manager, Strategic Communications or designate when required

Creates, produces and edits video content, photography and graphic design elements for social media, websites and communications materials that reflect the District’s brand

Liaises with schools and departments and generates and publishes the social media calendar, writes social posts and coordinates scheduling

Ensures the District’s website is current, including content refresh, new and consistent information is posted regularly and brand standards are maintained

Supports schools and departments in their own website management for content and consistency

Monitors and tracks media and social media communications

Assists with the planning of public relations special events, including recognition events and stakeholder engagement

Assists with other media, communications or website projects or initiatives

Designs and delivers static and moving graphic assets for marketing and communications projects using Photoshop and related software

Assists with strategic communications as directed by the Manager, Strategic Communications

May be privy to sensitive issues and information and required to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgement

May backfill as required for Manager, Strategic Communications

Education and Experience
