REgroup, a division of The Municipal Group of Companies, is an environmental services company that services the NB/NS. For over 20 years, REgroup has provided integrated waste collection, management, and recycling services. We are widely recognized for being friendly, efficient, reliable, and on-time, and proud to offer a full range of equipment to service the needs of our clients. We are seeking the qualifications and expertise of an Operations Manager for our operations based out of Truro, NS.
**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Vice President, as Operations Manager you will oversee the efficient operation of all functions within the branch. A strategic thinker striving for excellence with customer service levels, employee engagement, and financial performance.
**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
Oversee all Branch employees, including Supervisors and dispatch, ensuring effective supervision and support to meet performance standards.
Manage and coordinate daily activities, including solid waste collection, route optimization, staffing, and the maintenance of physical property through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
Lead financial management efforts, including regular P&L reviews and the planning and administration of the Branch Capital Budget.
Ensure fiscal responsibility through budget monitoring, implementing budget adjustments, and optimizing resource allocation.
Monitor service issues such as customer complaints and missed pickups, maintaining a high standard of service quality. Address outstanding issues in collaboration with supervisors and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure adherence to company safety programs and policies. Review and monitor all safety issues to implement corrective actions and ensure compliance with legislation and contract obligations.
Select, train, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure that employees possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their responsibilities effectively.
Conduct performance appraisals and work on employee development.
Collaborate with the Vice President in the development of both short-term and long-term goals, policies, and objectives for the Branch. Lead the administration and implementation of action plans to meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and budget forecasts.
Conduct various studies, self-audits, and investigations, and make recommendations for modifications to operations, policies, and procedures. Monitor productivity, trends, and efficiency, and implement changes for continuous improvement.
Conduct regular meetings to keep employees informed of operational changes, new developments, and performance standards. Ensure two-way communication to resolve issues and provide feedback.
Coordinate with the maintenance department to ensure all operational equipment is properly maintained and available through timely preventative maintenance programs.
**Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience**:
Previous experience in a management or leadership role within waste management, recycling, or a related industry preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Strong background in logistics, environmental services, or operational management is an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other business software for reporting and communication.
Strong understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and P&L management.
Ability to develop and manage capital budgets and monitor branch performance against financial targets.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate challenges and proactively implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Familiarity with branch management software, ERP systems, or similar platforms for managing operations, budgets, and customer service workflows.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interface with senior leadership, customers, and employees.
Ability to build and sustain productive relationships with clients, vendors, and stakeholders.
Strong adaptability to changing business conditions and ability to lead teams through transitions and new strategies.
Experience in leading safety programs and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
