The Client Experience Office (CXO) is a strategic support unit within Sun Life Canada accountable for delivering caring, easy and confidence building ‘One Sun Life’ client experiences for the Canadian Businesses. With approximately 500 FTEs in Canada and an annual budget of $200 million it creates value for the enterprise by employing experts in client experience, engagement, marketing, and digital, data and analytics to deliver personalized, proactive, and relevant experiences across a multitude of communication channels.

The Director, Expense Management, CXO is key contributor on the broader CXO & Operations Finance team, leading the expense management function for the CXO. This includes overseeing the completion of the monthly/quarterly expense reporting deliverables, leading the expense planning/forecast process, coordinating the yearly budget, providing ad-hoc expense related analysis, and supporting financial analysis and reporting related to CXO initiatives. The role will also provide expense insight to inform decisions made by the CXO leadership team and market segment leaders and is a key liaison with the Canadian Finance team. The Director also proactively engages and works with Finance teams across Sun Life Canada to meet all deliverables.

**What you'll be doing**
- Investigate and effectively communicate expense variances to all levels of management.
- Actively seek out expense savings opportunities and presenting action plans
- Maintain and refresh as required the principles-based Expense allocation methodology used to distribute CXO expenses across Sun Life Canada
- Attest to the accuracy of reports/information produced by ensuring the proper reviews have been completed.
- Ensure all deliverables and deadlines are met. Effectively communicate any delays to all required parties
- Lead expense & initiative components of Planning (Strategic and Final), Budgeting, and forecasting including Technology Finance cycles by providing expense components including initiatives, and timely, clear communication of expense information and roll-forwards to both the CXO and Sun Life stakeholders (the CXO Segment owners, the CXO Leaders, BU partners, Operations, Canadian Finance, etc.)
- Completion of ad-hoc expense-related analysis
- Manage and lead the CXO Expense team.
- Build strong relationships both within and outside of the CXO
- Demonstrate solid project-management and problem-solving skills,
- Delegate effectively and proactively work with staff members to resolve issues, as well as handle numerous operational tasks and other ad hoc requests concurrently, with mínimal to no supervision.
- Present to senior management and BU partners where required.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- 4-year University degree with a focus on business (Commerce, Accounting, Economics, preferred)
- CPA, MBA, or other Finance designation, preferred.
- 6-8 years leadership experience
- Excellent PC skills (Role currently utilizes tools such as: MSOffice Suite, Hyperion, SAP, Tableau)
- Experience with expense allocation methodologies, agile project delivery methodology and familiarity with cost benefit analysis models
- Ability to lead through change and ambiguity and influence without formal authority.
- Strong financial analysis and model development skills
- Proven ability to partner and build relationships.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong business acumen - big picture understanding of business as well as ability to dive deep into details and understand nuances, interrelationships, priorities.
- Proven flexibility/adaptability/creativity to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Strong relationship management skills with a focus on client orientation
- Highly motivated with the ability to consistently seek out improvements to current processes.
