**Role and Facility Information**:
The Island Health Division of Plastic Surgery has two positions to join a group 5 surgeons at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. These positions have regular access to surgical time in the main operating room and minor procedure room, often with additional resources to pick-up.

Nanaimo Regional General Hospital enjoys state of the art surgical suites, a weekly hand clinic staffed by certified hand therapists and a wound care clinic staffed by NSWOC nurses. The hospital has full diagnostic capabilities including CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, cancer clinic and critical care intensivists and has expansion plans in place for a cardiac catheterization lab and new intensive care unit. The medical community totals over 200 physicians with strong primary care physicians and skilled specialist colleagues who serve a population of 160,000+ and secondary referral services to a population of 430,000+.

Nanaimo, population 100,000+, is a growing and vibrant urban centre situated on the east coast of Vancouver Island, located approximately 100 kilometers north of Victoria and offers excellent access via commercial flights, float plane or ferry to Vancouver. The community offers a wide variety of cultural and educational opportunities including the 800-seat waterfront Port Theatre, the Vancouver Island University and is adjacent renowned private schools.

Nanaimo is the outdoor enthusiasts’ paradise, providing year-round access to a wide array of recreational activities including kayaking, kite boarding, windsurfing, mountain biking, hiking, running and golfing. Nearby Mount Washington frequently boasts the deepest snowpack in North America, has excellent downhill, snowboarding and cross-country skiing.
