**The Role**

The Health Promotion Specialist will deliver the Métis Nation of Ontario’s Gaming-Gambling Awareness Program (G-GAP). The Health Promotion Specialist will report to the MNO’s Manager of Mental Wellness. The role will include strategically planning, delivering, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting the Métis Nation of Ontario’s Gaming-Gambling Awareness Program. The position will collaborate with program manager(s) to develop front-line staff training. Further, the position will collaborate and/or engage MNO Managers or cultural experts with the development of cultural resources. Finally, the position will collaborate with and support the manager with programs/services design, budget formation, policy and operating guidelines, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation; assist in securing funds for other Mental Health related programming through proposal writing.

**Duties include, but are not limited to**:

- Strategically plan, deliver, monitor, analyze, and report the Métis Nation of Ontario’s Gaming-Gambling Awareness Program.
- Develop and deliver health promotion materials such as digital dependency awareness tools, resources, and awareness information.
- Develop, produce, and deliver Problem Gambling Prevention Training for front-line staff.
- The Health Promotion Specialist provides individual and group support for adult and youth audiences and provides awareness or education workshops to the community.
- Customize workshop tools and resources to meet the community’s and front-line staff’s needs.
- Attend community events (i.e. health fairs) with program booth displays and offer educational resources and information.
- Oversee research, development, and design of educational materials and presentations using current research and statistical data.
- Liaise with local, community-based, and regional programs, agencies, and organizations to strengthen communications and programming and to build new partnerships.
- Oversee the program’s communications strategy, which includes dissemination of program and gaming and gambling-related news and education through the MNO’s website and social media platform via Facebook.
- Collaborate and engage MNO Managers or cultural experts with the development of cultural resources.
- Produce briefing notes and other reports relative to this program and submit to the Manager of Mental Wellness for presentations to the PCMNO, AGA, or as required.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality; act as an advocate on behalf of the MNO Community Wellbeing Branch.
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
- Develop and maintain the annual work plan and program budget and review it quarterly. Prepare reports for funder(s) and liaise with referring sources when required.
- Conduct program and project evaluation using a variety of research and evaluation tools.
- Research practices and recommend changes or modifications to existing policies, practices, or positions.
- Promote, track, and measure compliance with program funding requirements by creating and implementing appropriate data collection, reporting, and recordkeeping processes.

**Qualifications**

Required:

- Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture
- Post-Secondary education in a health-related field or a combination education with a minimum of three (3) years experience providing health promotion, mental health, or social support services.
- Digital & Social Media Strategy and/or health promotion experience required.
- Certification or experience providing Gambling Information and/or mental health assessments.
- Strong public speaking and workshop presentation skills - minimum three (5) years.
- Specialization, experience, education and knowledge in areas of gambling, gaming and/or other digital dependencies.
