Vice President, Merchandising Operations

**Overview of the Position**
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team at Princess Auto, you will join an environment far removed from the traditional “command and control” style of leadership. The leadership style at Princess Auto is best described as flat, nimble, empowering, and focused on delivering value to our core stakeholders (Customers and Team Members) while ensuring an appropriate return on investment for our Shareholder.
This position is an on-site role, based in our beautiful Home Office, which is located at 475 Panet Road, in Winnipeg.
**To be successful in this role, you will need to**:
- Support the overall development of Merchandising Strategies; develop and maintain Category Assortment planning activities which deliver targeted performance in the areas of sales and margin, category profitability, inventory quality and PA operating income results
- Ensure all categories have a clear role & intent and supporting plan outlining priority for organizational support / investment
- Take a “team” first approach, establishing strong relationships across functional lines, and working collaboratively with the senior leadership team
- Oversee pricing and margin management to position the overall assortment to meet sales/profitability targets and to maintain competitive positioning.
- Execute all planning processes related to** **promotional and business planning
- Oversee the execution of line reviews, Seasonal Changeovers and Promotional Planning while maintaining quality and proficiency throughout
- Accountable for all direct vendor relationships and performance; ensures that product and vendor selection, negotiation and quote processes are defined and adhered to by the Merchandising team, including compliance with Team Member and Vendor Codes of Conduct.
- Follow all product safety and environmental policies and programs
- Support the packaging process and ensures all requirements are gathered accurately and in a timely manner
- Ensure all new/innovative programs for merchandising products and services are aligned with Merchandising Strategies
- Provide direction related to all long term strategic planning and maintain Category** **Portfolio; responsible for the design and development of a 3 year Plan, Role & Intent, and Customer/Market
- Maintain and establish** **sourcing** **models related to the strategy
- Provide a complete program presentation while meeting all** **space** **guidelines and performance metrics
- Design and develop product services
**To be considered for the role, the attributes you will bring are**:
- University Degree in a related discipline plus 5-7 years Merchandising management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- High level experience in leading Category Management philosophy and/or Sourcing functions
- Professional demeanor with ability to build strong internal and external relationships
- Strong business acumen and analytical capabilities
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- General working knowledge of computer operations
