**Nature of the Position**
The District of Sechelt is seeking a Corporate Records Assistant for a temporary, one-year assignment to assist with the implementation of a new digital records management system. Reporting to the Corporate Officer and under the general supervision of the Corporate Records Administrator, the Records Assistant will provide administrative support to the Corporate Services department.

Duties will include supporting and implementing corporate records management standards and procedures, assisting staff and external consultants with transitioning to the Microsoft 365 SharePoint platform while maintaining compliance with records retention regulations and filing conventions, maintaining the multiuser records management system, digitizing paper records and assisting with the functions of the Information and Privacy Coordinator for records requests.

**Essential Competencies**
- Valid Class 5 BC drivers licence with clean abstract
- Completion of Grade 12 diploma (or equivalent)
- Completion of an Administrative Assistant Certificate program at a post-secondary level
- Minimum two years’ work experience in an administrative assistant role
- Working knowledge of administering a records management system
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Local Government Act, Community Charter, and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
- Experience working with SharePoint.
- Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize effectively and work methodically amidst competing deadlines
- Highly effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Focused attention to detail with a high level of concern for order and improving operations
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with internal and external contacts
- Experienced in maintaining confidentiality of privileged information

An equivalent combination of the above knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

**Preferred Competencies**
- Experience working in an administrative role in a municipal government setting
- Advanced experience working with the Microsoft SharePoint platform
- Experience and knowledge of Hyland Onbase ECM

**Working Conditions**
This is a temporary, full-time unionized position within the BCGEU. Upon start, the term of this position is expected to endure for approximately 1 year, with the possibility of extension. The wage is Grid 7, $31.90 - $35.44 per hour 9.8% of straight time pay in lieu of scheduled vacations, paid holidays, health and welfare benefits and other paid leave. The hours of work are 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Flexibility is occasionally required to work evening meetings in a relief capacity. The District of Sechelt supports employment equity in accordance with the Human Rights Act of BC.
