Heavy Equipment Technician Lead Hand/supervisor

**About Us**:
Summit Equipment Ltd. is a small business in Hamilton, ON L9H 5E1. We sell and rent heavy equipment.

**Lead Hand Position**:
As a Lead Hand, you will be working hands-on alongside technicians while managing the production flow of the heavy equipment through the refurbishing process.

You will oversee the daily operations of our workshop, manage workflow, mentor technicians, perform repair plans and host daily production meetings with team to foster teamwork and communication.

**Duties**:

- Tracking work performed and ensuring work is completed efficiently and on time
- Improving the aesthetic appearance of machines
- Supervise and coordinate the work of technicians
- Assign tasks and provide guidance to team members
- Inspect machines to identify issues and plan work going forward
- Conduct regular maintenance on equipment and tools
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations

**Skills**:

- Attention to detail is mandatory
- Hands on experience in a repair shop type setting
- Experience working with heavy equipment
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools, including sanding, grinding, scraping, cleaning.
- Paint and body shop experience, including body filler and fiberglass is an asset.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary
- Good organization and planning is required
- Good interpersonal skills in order to lead and instruct the technicians both by example and delegation
- Working efficiently and quickly is often required and assisting others to do so

Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 44 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- mechanical: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Trade Certificate (preferred)

Work Location: In person
