Canada Payroll and Benefits Team Leader

**Job Description Summary**:
**Summary**:
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and leading a team of professionals and providing payroll and benefits administration support to GE Vernova while focusing on enterprise standards, compliance, and standardization. This role will also develop solid relationships with key stakeholders to maintain operational performance through leveraging metrics and trends and identifying areas for improvement.
**Essential Responsibilities**:
- Lead small team focused on Canadian Payroll, Benefits & Retirement processes, ensuring high standards of accuracy and quality are maintained based on compliance with relevant legal and GE Vernova policy requirements
- Partner with Vernova regional employment tax contacts to ensure appropriate implementation of new tax or paycheck withholding to accommodate local requirements
- Oversee Tax notice management and coordinate changes in active jurisdiction(s) and tax identification number(s) with vendor
- Ensure teams are aligned and relevant skills are in place to deliver on organizational strategy
- Develop and manage the ongoing advancement of the team including strong development plans
- Drive strong performance management in the team through clear expectations, priority setting, frequent touchpoints, and feedback
- Champion training and induction processes for new team members and role changes; coordinate and implement training to effectively meet team needs
- Drive a culture of service excellence within the team; promote “Best in Class” customer service
- Leverage metrics to identify trends or problems to maintain and improve performance levels
- Measure end-customer satisfaction; develop action plan to mitigate operational risks or resolve escalated issues
- Proactively identify areas for improvement within assigned processes; work closely with cross-functional teams to implement effective solutions taking into consideration a broader functional context.
- Develop strong working relationships within the HR community and across peer groups to ensure effective communication and influence decisions, accordingly.
- Drive GE Vernova’s high standards of ethics and compliance within the team
- Drive and enhance employee engagement
**Required**:
- Based on a Bachelor's degree or a similar educational background you have gained a broad experience in HR Operations/Service Delivery in multi-national companies or large corporation roles
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in direct people leadership or experience indirectly leading matrixed teams
- This job may require occasional travel to other locations within the region.
- Significant prior professional work experience with demonstrated achievement and leadership in Payroll & Benefits, and/or Operations/Service-oriented environment.
**Desired**:
- Prior GE Experience
- Demonstrated experience in making strategic decisions, and effectively interfacing with high-level business and operations leaders
- Experience in payroll and payroll tax operations
- Ability to energize and lead and drive change in complex, matrix, goal-driven, team-orientated service organizations
- Demonstrated experience in assessing and coaching leadership talent and promoting an inclusive/diverse workforce
- Proficiency in HR, Payroll & Benefits systems (ex. Workday) and technologies
- Experience managing third party providers
- Solid understanding of applicable regional legislative programs/processes
- Demonstrated success managing projects and/or implementing process improvement initiatives
- Strong analytical and clear-thinking skills; ability to identify trends and implement process improvements
- Comprehensive understanding of and ability to assimilate regulatory and compliance
- Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills - ability to present data in a clear, concise, and articulate manner
- Proven record of managing metrics, including analysis, identifying trends, and making timely decisions
- Cultural awareness & sensitivity: ability to flex style to suit differing cultural norms
- Ability to anticipate and resolve challenges
- Ability to drive process improvements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
