**Role Overview**

The **Junior Buyer / Production Planner** supports procurement, production planning, and material flow activities to ensure efficient operations in manufacturing and service. Working under the guidance of the Purchasing Manager, this role assists in sourcing materials, maintaining inventory levels, and coordinating with internal teams to meet operational requirements.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Purchasing**
- Ensure timely sourcing of materials with a focus on long-lead-time stock items and job-specific requirements.
- Execute stock replenishment and job-specific material sourcing processes, ensuring efficient utilization of existing stock and raw materials.
- Work with vendors to negotiate pricing, track deliveries, and ensure material availability.
- Review material requirements and minimize redundant or irrelevant purchases.
- Maintain consignment inventory with suppliers, ensuring stock adequacy and managing manual release requests as needed.
- Verify material traceability reports (MTRs) for compliance with specifications.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including customer support, operations, and service departments, to align purchasing and production schedules with organizational priorities.
- Identify opportunities to use oversized or alternative materials during stock reviews to reduce waste and cost.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures for material sourcing.
- Provide regular updates on material status and vendor performance.
- Conduct regular inventory counts of steel bars, comparing on-hand quantities with demand requirements and stock thresholds to ensure alignment with production needs.

**Production Planning**
- Create and manage production jobs to align with current demand and inventory requirements.
- Review stock levels and historical usage to adjust minimum and maximum stock thresholds for efficient inventory management.
- Coordinate with global sites on stock availability and material transfers.

**Qualifications**
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years purchasing experience.
- Skills: Proficient in ERP systems (Epicor preferred), Microsoft Excel, and supply chain principles. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Education: Grade 12 or equivalent
