**Position Summary**

Loyalist College is currently seeking to fill the newly created position of Dean, Port Hope Campus. The Dean is accountable for contributing to the academic well-being and growth of the College and providing academic and administrative leadership, supervision, support and direction to all faculty at the Campus as well as staff involved in academic delivery. The Dean is accountable for the planning, development, maintenance and ongoing quality review of full-time and part-time post-secondary programming offered at the Campus. They are also responsible for ensuring the curriculum, and related vocational learning outcomes, meet or exceed the relevant external accreditation and licensing requirements. As the senior leader of the Campus, the Dean’s role is to be responsive to the needs of students, industry and the community, while aligning with the College’s strategic objectives. The Dean is also responsible for the applied research participation within the Campus.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Provide academic and administrative leadership to academic and support staff involved in the development and delivery of programming, ensuring alignment with similar offerings at the Belleville Campus
- Develop the Campus academic delivery plan, goals and objectives in alignment with the College’s Strategic Plan, Strategic Mandate Agreement (SMA) and the Academic Plan
- Provide active leadership and effective collaboration for marketing, recruitment and retention initiatives to optimize strategic enrolment goals
- Assess and recommend to the Senior Vice-President Academic, academic modification of existing courses/programs and the development of new courses/programs, utilizing data-driven processes
- Promote internal and external community partnerships by forming networks and linkages
- Contribute to the development of college policies and operating procedures to meet the needs of students, client groups, community partners, industry partners, and government ministries/agencies
- Develop and maintain inter-institutional partnerships with a variety of colleges, universities and school boards
- Participate in review and implementation of the College’s Strategic Plan, SMA, Program Review/Renewal Process, Program Quality Assurance Process, Strategic Enrolment planning and related initiatives
- Develops partnership arrangements, in accordance with College policies and procedures, with business and community groups through program advisory committees, agreements and projects; actively participates in advancement/fundraising activities related to the Campus
- Ensure that faculty and staff assignments are consistent with college policies, procedures, collective agreements, terms & conditions and employment-related legislation.
- Ensure the effective use of fiscal, human and physical resources through the coordination and consolidation of budget requests and the distribution of available funds.
- Identify risk management issues and ensuring recommendations for continuous improvement are developed and considered.
- Identify capital requirements for academic delivery and ensure a planned maintenance program for academic equipment
- Maintain a high level of staff performance through effective recruiting, selecting, training, developing and evaluating staff
- Discipline and terminate staff as required. Handle serious complaints from students and staff concerning issues/problems that other levels were not able to resolve in accordance with College policies and procedures.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of nine (9) years of relevant progressive experience in academic management in a post-secondary environment
- Masters degree in Business, Leadership or a related discipline
- Sound understanding of the Ontario College System, Loyalist College, and relevant programs
- Demonstrated success in collaborative management/leadership, strategic planning and innovation, and in managing change initiatives
- Demonstrated leadership success in a diverse and inclusive environment
- Successful/experience working in a unionized environment would be a significant asset
- Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution/mediation
