High Speed Packaging Specialist - Afternoon Shift

**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Supervisor, as a High-Speed Packaging Specialist you will assist in requisitioning materials and locating, measuring, and weighing ingredients according to manufacturing formulae.

**Responsibilities**:

- Set up, and operates machines and equipment as required
- Can run Custom pack and Unit pack lines as required
- Troubleshoot machines and equipment if problems arise
- Inspects and/or lubricates equipment according to current preventative maintenance schedule
- Modify parts and tooling for efficiency
- Size pouches for new customer and special projects
- Operates and understands the basic principles of operation and repair of hi-speed packaging equipment and related materials used
- Carries out duties according to procedures and work instructions covering the tasks relating to the position’s function as outlined in the department’s quality manual, in accordance with Griffith Management System requirements
- Locates, weighs, counts and combines ingredients according to manufacturing formulae and production worksheets
- Ensures custom material (25 lbs or less) is sealed, packaged, loaded, sorted and inventoried correctly
- Communicates with team members when custom material is short or missing
- Completes necessary paperwork and labels for packaging, ensuring correct information is noted as per the departmental requirements
- Obtains required custom material (25lbs or less) using the tow motor and delivers to staging area with tow motor
- Solves minor packaging issues as per order requirements
- Checks that all ingredients as required on formulae, ensures weights are correct and that final pallet is assembled correctly
- Communicates internally with other departments for the purpose of gathering materials and maintaining inventories
- Understands and follows all security, HACCP, GMP, and BRC policies and procedures
- Operate forklift as required
- Performs other related duties as required

What Will You Be Doing?
- With training provided, operate, and maintain equipment to deliver safe food production, on time and in full
- Heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) including standing for long periods with repetitive movement
- Trouble shoot equipment to resolve issues proactively
- Observe changes to colour/texture/odor of products
- Follow company Food Safety Policy to ensure compliance to all Food Safety requirements while wearing PPE (ear plugs, eye protection, uniforms, safety boots and masks when required)
- Measure and weighing ingredients for processing, transporting of finished product including attention to packaging and labels
- Operate forklift as required
- Other duties may be required as assigned

What Will You Bring?
- College diploma in a specialized training in a recognized technical program - required
- Knowledge of basic mathematical foundations required
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is considered an asset
- Team player with a keen desire to meet deadlines, strong decision maker with excellent communication skills
- Microsoft DAX or other ERP knowledge an asset
- Forklift license an asset
