**Machine Operator (FT-Afternoon)**
- **Term**: Permanent, Full-Time, Monday-Friday, Afternoon.
- **Reports To: Production Supervisor**
- **Pay Rate**: $22.50ph
- **Shift**
- 3:45pm-12:00am

- **Overtime**: > 40 hours per week

**PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Know and abide by the company GMP policy.
- Inform management of any machine or equipment malfunction.
- When equipment breaks down, inform supervisor or maintenance personnel. Perform clean up or other duties as assigned by management.
- Work as a team player to promote efficient operation. Help others when they may be in a difficult situation.
- Work in a safe and responsible manner at all times.
- Take care of all garbage/recycling as needed.
- Maintain good housekeeping in the work area.
- Perform other duties when assigned by Supervisor.
- Discuss and determine from the supervisor the production plan for the start of the day. Then set up all the packers accordingly before production employee’s start their shift.
- All cartons used and product packed must be recorded on the machine operator packaging control form.
- All production codes and expiry date codes for the carton are to be checked and maintained during the shift according to the Product Labeling and Date Coding Policy in the HACCP program.
- Communicate with packers the product type (brand), format and the packaging type that is being produced. Alert the packers in a timely fashion of changes when they occur.
- Communicate with the packers on the number of boxes they have left to pack and to supply sufficient cartons or trays to complete filling the boxes.
- Communicate with the track person to determine if desired quantities of particular types (brands) have been met. Make up what is required for any shortages.
- Communicate with the Middle Person to maintain a supply of cartons in the middle adequate to the production requirements. Use the P.A. when necessary to order more from the Middle person.
- Maintain carton and tray levels in the packers so that the packers keep running.
- Clear up and thoroughly clean up jams that occur in the packers. For severe jams call maintenance personnel to assist.
- Make minor adjustments to cartons denester when carton or trays do not denest properly.
- Work with the supervisor when changing egg types by sequentially emptying the eggs out the packers and making the carton change.
- Turn on or turn off the egg print on the computer touch screen as required.
- Recognize from the needs sheet the needs of the day and determine with the supervisor’s input the sequence and particular needs to work on.
- Respond to the packers when they indicate that there is problem with the date codes. Ensure that the problem gets immediate attention and is resolved. Notify maintenance personnel and supervisor if you cannot resolve the problem.
- Keep an overview of the production and be alert to any unusual events or circumstances
- Keep a clean working environment. Place all plastic carton and tray wrappings into a plastic garbage bag for recycling. Clean up all eggs spills putting broken eggs into blue pails.
- Count and record defective carton by type (brand).Set aside defective and damaged cartons for recycling.
