**General Accountability**:

- Responsible for supervising the work carried out in substations, breaker rooms, underground cable vaults, and the Power Control Operations Centre. This entails the installation, inspection, maintenance, repair and testing of automatic substation and related traction power distribution equipment, various electrical/electronic systems related to Power Control, Maximo Asset Management system, S.C.A.D.A. system, the "Real Time" computer system and associated peripherals. This will include all types of electronic and electrical rectifying equipment, power distribution equipment, and power feeder cables that provide traction power for streetcar, subway, and RT services.**Key Job Functions**:

- Directing and supervising all phases of work carried out in the Substation and Power Control section
- Installing, inspecting, repairing, and testing electrical and electro-mechanical equipment associated with power distribution systems, such as solid state rectifiers, feeder breakers, transformers, motor alternators for emergency signal supplies etc.
- Calibrating and adjusting electrical/electronic instruments and meters
- Testing and adjusting relays and mechanical linkages in all substations and breaker rooms
- Checking and balancing interlocking devices in automatic substations
- Inspecting and repairing high and low voltage power breakers and load interrupter switches
- Inspecting and repairing wiring and specialized substation equipment utilized on the S.R.T. system
- Inspecting, maintaining, splicing and repairing the TTC’s surface and underground electric power cable network
- Developing work methods and schedules and ensuring that work is carried out safely and in accordance with standard practices
- Recommending and implementing new improvements to equipment and/or methods of work revisions
- Investigating various injuries, accidents, incidents or other problems which may arise
- Ensuring that the rules and regulations originating in the Collective Agreement, Commission and Department policies, and Government legislation (e.g. W.H.M.I.S. Occupational Health & Safety Act, Human Rights Act etc.) are satisfied and applied fairly and consistently
- Participation in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program

**Education and Experience**:

- Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (i.e., Electrical/Electronic) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
- A valid Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician - Construction & Maintenance (309-A).
- Several years of experience working with sophisticated electrical equipment.

**Additional Requirements**:

- Thorough knowledge and experience of TTC Substations & Power Control Centre Operations
- Knowledge of the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical/electronic substation equipment such as rectifiers, feeder breakers, transformers, motor alternators, inverters and high voltage equipment, etc.
- Ability to plan, assign and direct the work of a unionized group of skilled technical employees
- Sound judgement, well-developed problem solving, interpersonal and overall communications skills are required
- Technical school graduation in an electrical/electronic disc
