**Operations Specialist - Border Steel Ltd.**

Border Steel is a Windsor based manufacturer, that was established over 50 years. Located on 3209 Devon Dr., Windsor, ON N8X 3J6.

We specialize in Blanchard grinding, machining and flame cutting of steel plates.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Purchasing**
- Develop and execute strategic purchasing plans to secure materials and components at competitive prices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality assurance.
- Monitor market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Manage inventory levels to balance production needs with cost efficiency.

**Estimating**
- Analyze production processes, material requirements, labour costs and overhead to develop accurate cost estimates for new and existing job orders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to obtain necessary information and data to create cost estimates, including product specifications, production schedules, and bill of materials.
- Conduct comprehensive cost analyses for various production scenarios, including cost breakdowns for raw materials, labour, equipment, overhead, and other production expenses.
- Monitor and update cost estimates based on changes in production processes, materials, or other factors that may impact production costs.
- Develop and maintain a cost estimation database or software system to track and update production cost estimates for different products and production scenarios.
- Provide timely and accurate cost estimates to support pricing decisions.

**Manufacturing**
- Lead and mentor the manufacturing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and recommend cost-effective manufacturing methods, processes, and materials to optimize production costs and profitability without compromising quality or customer satisfaction.

**Mold Making Expertise**
- Provide the production team technical guidance related to mold design.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to mold design.

**Qualifications**
- Proven technical experience in the mold making process and a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in supply chain management, purchasing or a related field.
- Proven experience in manufacturing and production environment as an estimator or similar role.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to create accurate estimates and budgets.
- Familiarity with industry-specific cost estimation standards and practices.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in an ERP system, Sage 300 and other relevant software is an asset.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
