**Salary information**:The salary range is $91,802.25 - $106,088.97 per annum pro-rated.
**Essential Nature of the Work**:
Reporting to the President of SEIU-West, the Employment Relations Manager will be working as a member of the senior leadership team. This person will provide overall employment relations leadership and advice to the organization; oversee the development and implementation of human resource policies, programs and services, including labour relations, employment practices, compensation and benefits, development of a human resources information system (HRIS), assist with recruitment, onboarding, training and development, performance management, legal compliance, and employee communications in a unionized workplace. The incumbent shall have a full understanding of and commitment to SEIU-West's vision and take an active role in the implementation of that vision. As a member of senior leadership, the incumbent is expected to lead by example. All staff are responsible for conducting themselves in a safe and responsible manner. All staff are expected to respect the processes of the organization and are expected to work within the framework of the agreed mechanisms to resolve internal disputes and issues in a respectful and collaborative manner.
**Qualifications**:
- University Degree or Diploma in Human Resources (HR), or an equivalent combination of education and recent experience that is required to complete the duties of the position in an exemplary manner;
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation considered an asset;
- A minimum of five years of recent relevant demonstrated HR experience which would include but not be limited to building policies and programs related to talent acquisition, development and retention, as well as advising on strategic workforce planning and developing a strong, positive collaborative organizational culture.
- A minimum of five years of recent relevant demonstrated HR experience which would include but not be limited to advising, coaching, and supporting management in addressing workplace conflict, inappropriate employee conduct, and employee concerns and grievances, establishing Employer policies, procedures and workplace rules and compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.
- A minimum of five years of recent relevant demonstrated HR experience in a unionized employment environment which would include but not be limited to researching, advising, and supporting the Collective Agreement bargaining processes.
- Knowledge of Saskatchewan Employment Act; human rights legislation and Occupational Health & Safety laws;
- Valid Driver's license and a reliable vehicle as travel may be required;
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice; and
- Motivated self-starter able to work effectively with a minimum of supervision; and
- Dedicated to professional development and continuing education.
**Skills and Abilities**:
- Ability to function co-operatively and collaboratively with other SEIU staff and leaders, exercise good judgement and initiative, and manage shifting priorities;
- Experience in a leadership capacity providing mentorship and coaching;
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability in satisfactorily interpreting staff union collective agreement language;
- Experience in employee recruitment and managing employee relations;
- Possess strong management and group/interpersonal communication skills;
- Proven organizational skills to handle competing priorities plus the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships;
- Ability to inspire trust and confidence in staff and leaders;
- Ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy;
- Ability to work independently and with groups, as required;
- Excellent research skills, with careful attention to detail;
- Excellent written and oral communications skills;
- Ability to work long and irregular hours - on weekends and holidays as may be required.
