**Professor, Principles of Teaching and Learning and Indigenous Education**:

**Duties**:
EDTE 520 Curriculum and Instruction: Language Arts (3 credits)
EDTE 330 Issues in Aboriginal Education (3 credits)

**Required Qualifications**:
A doctorate degree in a related field (i.e., Teacher Education, Indigenous Education, Curriculum and Pedagogy) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
- Evidence of experience and knowledge of appropriate teaching methodology in the K-12 system including Indigenous principles of teaching and learning.
- Willingness and ability to function in a team setting; responsive to diverse cultural and academic backgrounds.
- Commitment to the development of students as teachers.
- Experience establishing connections with Indigenous communities.
- Eligibility for BC Teaching Certificate or equivalent.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Familiarity with Vancouver Island University Faculty of Education Teacher Education programs.
- Established connections with local Indigenous communities.
- Familiarity with current BC Ministry of Education initiatives in areas such as curriculum, assessment and reporting, implementing K-12 curriculum, and relevant experience supporting personal and professional Indigenous learning.
- Experience teaching adult learners in a post-secondary environment.
