**JOB TITLE**:SCDP Consultant

**JOB SUMMARY**:The Supported Child Development Program Consultant is to provide support, planning, and coordination for the inclusion of children who require additional support in a childcare setting chosen by their families. The SCDP Consultant will also offer support through training, resource lending, and consultation to the family and centre/community staff.

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:
1. Report writing competence, and verbal communication skills that are empathetic and articulate.

2. Must be self-directed, motivated, and able to work independently and in cooperation with others.

3. Knowledge of Office 365 or equivalent.

4. Knowledge of Nucleus Labs Client Management System an asset.

5. Knowledge of community childcare resources and other community support services

6. Knowledge of culturally appropriate practices

7. Skill in administering a range of formal and informal developmental assessment tools.

8. Knowledge and skills in peer training.

9. Ability to reflect on and improve professional practice.

10. Physical ability to perform duties of the position.

11. Valid driver’ license

12. Covid vaccination (2 shots)

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
ECE Diploma is required for this position. Additional courses in special needs, infant and toddler, and administration are an asset. Three to five years of experience with a demonstrated in-depth knowledge of supported child development, childcare, and early intervention programs and services.

**FUNCTIONS**:
Facilitate the development and implementation of individual service plans for children that reflect the choices and priorities identified by their families.

Strengthen and support families in their role as decision makers on behalf of their children and themselves.

Establish relations with and liaise with the Indigenous community to support capacity building.

Collaborate with others to meet the needs of children and families.

Assists Coordinator to ensure availability of and access to information and resources.

Contribute to the effective management and administration of the Supported Child Development Program

Complete documents, observations, and assessments as necessary to determine eligibility for SCDP. Assists families in selecting appropriate childcare settings of their choice. Determine with families and childcare providers the appropriate and required types and levels of support to be provided based on the Support Guide or equivalent tool.

Conduct observations, complete formal and informal developmental assessments. In collaboration with families and team members, develop Individualized Service Plans (ISP) for each child.

Provide information, resources, and suggestions to support the implementation of strategies and activities to meet goals and objectives of the ISP. Participate in on-going evaluations of plans, goals, and objectives. Provide or facilitate child specific training when needed.

Function as team coordinator when requested by family. Coordinate and participate in team meetings with families and other team members.

Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date files for each child; ensure necessary forms and consents are complete; prepare reports as requested by parent and program.

Provide information, resources, suggestions, and strategies to support inclusive, family centered, culturally appropriate practices in childcare settings.

Support capacity building with the Indigenous community.

Support and facilitate transitions to other programs including Kindergarten and to other communities.

Support families in their role as self-advocates and provide information to assist families in making informed decisions.

Form partnerships with other health, education, and community service providers to meet the goals of specific children and families.

Contribute to an effective staff team to ensure the delivery of quality services.

Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of all aspects of service to maximize effectiveness.

Plan and implement personal and professional development.
