**Job description**

Fundy Veterinarians is looking for a motivated, personable, Full or part-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team at our Shubenacadie and Truro location. This position will work between our two hospitals as a part time position. The position does require working some weekends and evenings and flexibility is appreciated to help cover vacations. Graduation from a Veterinary Assistant program, and previous experience working in a vet clinic, are both valuable assets.

Job Description Overview:

- Duties will include, but not be limited to:_
- Assisting in the exam rooms with appointment check-ins, patient restraint, and check-outs.
- Assisting with in-patient care and treatment as needed
- Assisting with routine diagnostic tests (i.e. taking radiographs, running bloodwork, setting up fecals)
- Cleaning surgical instruments
- Cleaning/Disinfecting of kennels, exam rooms and treatment areas of hospital
- Some receptionist tasks of answering phones and booking appointments
- Helping clients with their pets

Qualifications:

- Must be 18yrs old or older
- Genuinely enjoy working with animals and be able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill, or in pain.
- Prefer 1+ years of experience, but not required.
- Able to meet the physical demands of the job. Work requires lifting, carrying and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs.). Should be able to lift 40lbs on own.
- Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.
