Reporting to the Director of Base Facilities, IT is seeking an **Equipment Technician** to join its Halifax operations team to support marine operations. The position, located at the Port of Halifax - Pier 9A, provides an excellent working environment, opportunity for growth and learning, a complete benefits package as well as an attractive compensation package.
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
- Ensure the ongoing working condition of all machinery and equipment
- Perform all scheduled preventative maintenance
- Mobilize equipment on vessels based on the project requirements
- Maintain required company maintenance documentation such as: daily operating logs, end of project summaries, equipment defect reports and consumable reports.
- Advise Director of Base Facilities of the operational readiness of all cable equipment
**Required Skills**:
- Technical College diploma, preferable in general mechanics. Must have knowledge of hydraulics and electricity or 3 - 5 years equivalent experience in a related field.
- Excellent communications skills required, both written and verbal
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Strong organization, time-management, and analytical skills
- Basic MS Microsoft Office experience required
- Forklift license, rigging training and first aid training are all considered assets
