**Summary**
Under the direction of the Senior Producers, and in collaboration with others, the Announcer Producer is responsible for the planning, organizing, producing of content for all platforms for their assigned programs.
The Announcer Producer is responsible for focusing on producing and hosting professional
- level programming that engages, entertains, and educates the targeted audience.
That engagement takes place through compelling content (musical and otherwise) presented in a manner that attracts and keeps an audience. The entertainment is a result of a warm and pleasant presentation that balances a reverence for the material presented with a conversational style. The education is an outcome of appropriate research and presentation of the content presented.
The incumbent will complete other administrative responsibilities to promote and increase contact with the CKUA audience and may also engage with their audience
**Duties & Responsibilities**
***Content and Audience Development**
- Responsible for auditioning, curating and the sequencing of recorded music from various sources creating an engaging experience for the intended/targeted audiences.
- Plans, organizes, produces, edits, and delivers assigned programs, program elements or other live or recorded content.
- Completes various administrative responsibilities in support of the programming commitments including researching, creating background notes, and preparing information for announcer breaks during programs.
- Engages with audience and manages and responds to inquiries, donated hours, and other listener/donor relationships.
- When hosting programs, the Announcer Producer will adhere to and uphold CKUA broadcast guidelines including On-Air Standards, Canadian Content requirements, and any other associated directives that may be issued.
**Audience and Relationship Engagement**
- Engages with audience and manages inquiries, donated hours, and other listener/donor relationships.
- Responsive to the inquiries of CKUA audiences, donors, co-workers and addresses their observations or concerns in a productive and constructive manner, seeking additional information to ensure accuracy of response.
- Attends staff meetings and maintains a currency of knowledge and understanding of the expectations and planning for CKUA content delivery.
- Use of social media to promote shows and CKUA content is encouraged but not mandatory.
**Operations and Technical**
- Operates relevant technical equipment and associated software during live broadcasts and while recording programs and other production assignments (sales, sponsorship, marketing messages, etc.)
- Operates studio equipment, in accordance with program log (when applicable), meeting technical standards and ensuring equipment, facilities and materials (including digital materials) are properly maintained.
**Decision Making & Problem Solving**
- Demonstrates an agile and adaptive capability to respond to changing or unanticipated conditions when producing in a live or remote setting.
- Utilizes astute judgement when making operating decisions in the best interests of CKUA are necessary in the absence of standardized guidelines or senior colleagues are unavailable to be consulted.
***Other Duties**
- Maintains an understanding of and adheres to CKUA Radio Network policies, procedures, and standards.
- Contributes to a positive and safe CKUA Radio Network culture by modeling the values we live by.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- ** **Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Teams
- Knowledge of CKUA Library digital database
- Knowledge of OMT and Adobe Audition or other current CKUA approved software
- Uses critical thinking to analyze and interpret information to make decisions, make recommendations and to solve problems.
- Continuous Self-Development
- Operates with a strong Customer Focus.
**No supervisory responsibility.**
**Education & Experience**
- Minimum of 6 months experience in broadcast, podcast, or digital content creation etc.
- Post-Secondary education from a Broadcast school or other media preferred but not required
- Significant understanding of at least one musical genre.
**Additional Requirements**
Must have recent training in WHMIS, cyber security and diversity and inclusion training or complete in first 90 days following employment
**Work Environment**
***The Announcer Producer normally operates in a professional office or studio environment however given the nature of the role, live and remote broadcasts would require the Announcer Producer to fulfill their requirements outside of the office environment. This role requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers and phones to execute more than 75% of its duties and responsibilities.
***At times this position may be authorized to work remotely but some work may only be completed on site. CKUA has studios in both Calgary and Edmonto
