**Job Summary**:
Provide teaching assistance support to individual and/or small groups of adult immigrants and newcomers. Assist in maintaining student records and other administrative requirements of the program.

**Your Role**:
Archway’s Teaching Assistant (TA) with the Access2English Program contributes by:

- Leading small group activities in reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
- Assisting students with adjustments to classroom procedures and Canadian cultural practices.
- Facilitating the inclusion of students with special needs.
- Assisting with field trips and group outings and arranging for guest speakers.
- Referring students to relevant programs in the community.

This position is a great fit for someone who understands settlement language issues, has digital literacy skills, is attentive to detail, and has a sense of cultural humility and understanding of the needs of adult immigrant learners.

**Our Offer**:

- Wage: $22.00 per hour
- A part-time position, 12 to 30 hours per week, availability Monday to Thursday mornings from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and/or evenings from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
- Temporary until March 14, 2025, with the possibility of extension.

**Getting an Interview-you will be considered if you have**:

- Completed a literacy tutor/teaching assistant training, OR you are in the process of obtaining a TESL certificate from a recognized institution, OR you have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year experience working in an adult ESL classroom.

**The Job Requires you to have**:

- Knowledge of settlement language issues and local community resources.
- Strong English language, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to assist students one-on-one or in small groups (including literacy & special needs).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a classroom and program team.
- Strong digital literacy skills and attention to detail.
- Strong sense of cultural humility and understanding of the needs of adult immigrant learners.
- A satisfactory criminal record check is a condition of employment.
