**Your Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Watershed Planning and Source Protection, the Program Engagement Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing community educational, outreach and engagement initiatives to support the Hamilton Harbour Remedial Action Plan (HHRAP), Source Protection Program, and the Watershed Planning Program in the Watershed Management and Climate Change department.
- Design, implement, and evaluate community educational, outreach and engagement initiatives to support the HHRAP, Source Protection Program, and Watershed Planning Program.
- Develop contents and resources that highlight best practices, current issues, and innovative solutions to support program goals.
- Working with the Sr. Manager and program coordinators to develop and implement comprehensive community outreach and engagement strategies for the HHRAP, Source Protection Program, and Watershed Planning Program to expand the reach and support the program goals.
- Identify key audience for each of the programs, including organizations and agencies, community groups, First Nations, and others, to build, maintain, and enhance strong partnerships and collaborations.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement community events, workshops, and educational initiatives to support the HHRAP, Source Protection Program, and Watershed Planning Program.
- Oversee logistics, including venue selection, material preparation, and coordination with internal and external staff.
- Develop budgets and undertake cost control for individual events and initiatives.
- Create compelling content for social media, newsletters, and other communication channels to raise awareness, and drive engagement for the HHRAP, Source Protection Program, and Watershed Planning Program.
- Craft promotional material and presentations to effectively communicate program goals.
- Closely work with Marketing and Communication to release and distribute communication content and material.
- Track and analyze outreach activities and engagement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and make data-driven recommendations.
- Prepare regular reports on outreach efforts, including successes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

**Your Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in outreach, community engagement, event and program management, or a related role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience in effectively communicating technical information verbally and in writing, and with the ability to engage and motivate diverse audiences.
- Experience in program development and ability to write and assess outreach and engagement programs
- Working knowledge of natural resource management and environmental planning principles and concepts and Southern Ontario’s natural features and functions
- Proficiency in social media platforms and content creation tools.
- Familiarity with HHRAP, Source Protection Program, or Watershed Planning principles and concepts considered an asset
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other department teams and across several departments as well as with program partners and other external agencies.
