**Berwick by the Sea** retirement community is looking for a **Maintenance Assistant** who is reliable, authentic, and excited to make a difference in the lives of people. **Schedule**:
This position is **casual **and the hours will be **as needed.**
**Pay**:
Staring Wage is **$25.70** per hour, (Includes provincial wage subsidy), plus shift differentials if applicable.

**Position Summary**:
Support the safe maintenance and repair of the building including independent suites, care unit suites, common and staff areas, parkade and grounds. These responsibilities including but not limited to painting, general electrical and plumbing, basic carpentry, grounds clean up, carpet cleaning, building and equipment repairs. This position requires compliance with health and safety regulations at all times to ensure the safety of all building occupants. Assists Maintenance Manager with all aspects of suite rejuvenation and general maintenance as assigned. Accountable for “Emergency Response” for the building and its occupants. Provides security to building and conducts security rounds on a regular basis.
**Qualifications/Experience**:
- A good working knowledge of and experience in repairs, painting, electrical maintenance, safety, operating a variety of equipment, working with cleaning chemicals and carpet cleaning;
- A minimum of 2 years experience in the field of maintenance and general repairs
- High School completion or equivalent
- Valid Emergency level 1 First Aid Certificate and CPR
- WHMIS Certification;
- Emergency response training in the handling of emergency situations such as power outages, fire, earthquake and medical emergencies
- Experience in providing building security
- Self-motivated team player with excellent judgment and interpersonal skills with co-workers, seniors, and the general public

- Excellent communication skills; comfortable speaking to groups; ability to perform as a trainer to groups of staff in critical building systems and safety procedures

**Note**: *A criminal record check is required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable adults. Current TB test and proof of Covid-19 Vaccination also required.
