Quality Assurance Manager

As the Manager, Quality Assurance (MQA), will be responsible for ensuring that all products are safe, effective, and meet quality requirements and intended purpose before being made available for sale. This role requires the MQA working with the quality control manager, machine technicians, production supervisors, charge hands and packers to ensure that the procedures conducted in the manufacturing facility producing quality products in compliance with regulatory agencies. **Role & Responsibilities**:
- Ensure the quality management system is functioning effectively, including advising on changes, offering recommendations on implementation, and providing training, tools, and techniques to enable others to achieve quality standards for the organization. Ensure batch documents, including manufacturing documents, packaging documents, and quality control testing documents, are complete, reviewed, and in compliance with specifications prior to release; Ensure in-process testing in manufacturing and packaging is performed as required.
- Lead implementation of Quality Management System (QMS) by conducting gap assessment, planning system deployment, and managing execution with training and support of all staff.
- Establish effective Change Management procedures to ensure Continuous Improvement and sustainment of QMS.
- Facilitate the definition and documentation of the company’s business processes.
- Develop and administer an effective Document Management System.
- Establish KPIs including metrics and trends, progress on established quality objectives, results of internal and external audits, adequacy of required resources, non-conformities, and corrective and preventative actions and actions to address risks and opportunities.
- Conduct regularly scheduled internal audits of all functional areas and work collaboratively with internal functions to develop and implement corrective and preventative actions to address non-conformances.
- Lead and oversee Continuous Improvement projects while evaluating operational and financial data, conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, cost/benefit forecasts.
- Access and generate measurements and assessment tools enabling operational and leaders to evaluate potential areas for formal Continuous Improvement actions and determine their operational and financial value.
- Provide status reports to management as required.
- Ensure environmental monitoring such as pest control, temperature and humidity monitoring, allergen testing, and air quality sampling is complete and reviewed in a timely manner.
- Coordinate Non-Conformance Investigation (NCI) and Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) reporting, investigation, approval, and trend analysis, including but not limited to process deviation and reworks.
- Maintain staff by aiding the Manager, Quality Control, and HR in recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Collaborate with internal groups to maintain control of product quality during new product launches.
- Resolve quality-related issues with customers, Operations, and Purchasing using root cause problem solving and six sigma techniques.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures and processes in conformance to applicable regulatory guidance.
- Perform internal audits and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Observe and enforce all company and department safety policies as outlined in the company policies and training sessions.
**Requirement/Qualifications**:
- Completion of a University Degree or equivalent Technical Diploma in a suitable Science or another associated discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive industry experience preferably in a supervisory or management position in Quality Operations within the manufacturing and maintenance personnel to resolve quality and production procedures or related industry.
- Superior GMP knowledge and experience with Health Canada, FDA, TGA and ISO
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
