**About the role**:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Quality & Compliance, the Quality Assurance Associate & AQAP plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality and regulatory compliance across the organization. This role is responsible for maintaining and facilitating a range of essential QA functions, including Lot Release, Complaint Review, Supplier Approval, and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) reporting. Additionally, the Quality Assurance Associate oversees updates to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring all relevant teams are trained effectively in new practices and quality protocols.
With a focus on driving continuous improvement in quality systems, data management, and record-keeping, the Quality Assurance Associate enhances transparency in quality data, supporting both immediate compliance needs and long-term quality objectives. By closely monitoring deviations and CAPA effectiveness, this position strengthens the organization’s ability to proactively address quality issues, making a measurable impact on product reliability, regulatory adherence, and customer satisfaction.
**Duties and responsibilities (include and are not limited to)**:
- Maintain and facilitate essential QA functions, including Lot Release, Complaint Review, Supplier Approval, and CAPA Reporting.
- Conduct thorough reviews of Certificates of Analysis (CofAs) and applicable batch records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting product quality initiatives.
- Drive initiatives to enhance the quality management system, focusing on the integrity, accessibility, and transparency of quality data.
- Actively monitor deviations and assess CAPA effectiveness, facilitating ongoing improvements to minimize risks and enhance product reliability.
- Review and update SOPs to reflect current practices, ensuring all relevant teams receive comprehensive training on new protocols and compliance requirements.
- Engage with the Customer Compliant Team to maintain and elevate quality standards throughout product delivery processes.
- Attend key meetings related to Deviation/CAPA/Risk Management and Out of Specification (OOS) issues, contributing to strategic discussions and action planning.
- Focused on improving the quality system and ensuring quality data integrity and accessibility.
- Actively participate in Deviation/CAPA/Risk Management and Out of Specification (OOS) meetings.
- Collaborate with Customer QA to uphold quality standards in product delivery.
- Potential for Ad hoc projects.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
**Qualifications/competencies**:
- Preference for a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in a relevant field such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Medicine.
- 3 years Quality Assurance experience in GPP/GMP manufacturing fields, preferably within Pharmaceutical, Legal Cannabis, Food Industry or any other relevant industry.
- Previous Health Canada Security Clearance and work experience with a Canadian Licensed Producer (LP).
- Experience with technical report writing and scientific documents.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook.
- Must possess excellent communication skills for liaising and communicating with internal departments.
- Excellent time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to adhere to strict protocols.
- Knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in the cannabis industry.
- Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Is a team player, works well with others, and is able to take direction.
- Motivated to work in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment.
- A strong passion for problem-solving is essential.
